Skvlt - Demo

Skvlt are pretty noisy and chaotic, blistering and sweltering sounds. Very groovy. Black metal inspired hardcore punk, similar to the rest of the stuff that I have been posting lately. Really good stuff, so good that I cannot describe it. The download link on this site is not the download link at all, it's a link to the download link on their blogspot so you can check out other stuff they have done, links to other bands, PRGNT records. I don't know, they haven't updated it in like a month maybe? I think? Or maybe they just updated it very recently, I don't care, but they're a good band.

Life of Refusal - Life of Refusal 2011

Another band from my neck of the woods, very aggressive as well. Total chaotic powerviolence/fastcore/hardcore, whatever. It is what it is, and it will be that way every time you listen. Pretty good band live, the singer got really into it, I got really into it. I think I developed a crush on him. Regardless of the sexual ambiguity of this, do not be scared and listen. No songs about falling in love, which is a bummer, but there are some neat sing a long type of songs, stuff about giving into the business world, being an awful person, and kind of just rejection of typical outlooks on life. If you like this type of stuff you will dig it, if you don't then you won't, but isn't that how it always is?

Cynarae - Cynarae

Another really great band from the West Coast, not from California though (the Pacific Northwest in fact), but hopefully they do not stay strangers and visit back. The description on their facebook page says, that they are a "Super leftist, atheistic, forward thinking, semi nihilistic, 90's metallic, hardcore hate violence," which isn't off at all. This band played and said some rad stuff, I felt totally comfortable with their aggression, which was great. They didn't put off anything mean or hateful, aside from aggressive music. Frustrated Bremen type of hardcore similar to stuff like Systral, maybe even like Zeroid, but just a little bit. I also hear a little Reversal of Man in the music, but who knows?

Beezlebup - Demo

The imagery of the bandcamp download is pretty spot on. Not sure how the tape looks or if it is even out yet*, when I saw them I didn't really look because I ran out of money paying for all my friends to get in the show. Really hardcore, fast stuff. Queuing the same "VIBES" of most of the stuff I have been posting recently: angry, pathetic, to the point, noisy, aggressive, worthless. All the good stuff rolled up into one. I hope their demo tape has more stuff on it, because these two songs are really good and I'd like to sink my teeth into more. Again, this stuff is dark and ultimately defeating rather than run of the mill dumb midwest girlfriend lyrics, not to be harsh.

Beezlebup - Demo

*Fuck, just checked that the show I went to was their tape release show. I feel like such a shit head for passing out on their tape, hopefully I catch them again soon though.

Hordes - Abaragnosis

Hordes is a nice band from my neck of the woods. Four dudes that make hardcore music, nothing brutal, but it is particularly heavy and noisy when witnessed live. Grunty vocals, and doom tuned guitars playing hardcore in a dark way. I'm kind of glad bands like this exist, I really do not like that happy popular shit that's easy on the ears and particularly dominating places like tumblr or Alternative Press. I'm not sure what I'm trying to say without sounding a bit pretentious, but considering my last few posts have had me saying some kind of mean things, I can continue. This shit is not ear plug, cut off jean shorts, bright colored beanie hardcore, this is influenced by the dark side of the music. Crust, Japanese, late 80's, mild beatdown, guttural vocals, and mosh.

Gay Kiss - Anxiety Machine

Not a homosexual cover band that does Kiss songs, but that would work as well. Very hardcore, very fun. Not fun like dumb ass fun, but fun as in headache, clogged arteries, and smashing guitars type of fun. I saw this band last night, the singer was crawling all over the floor, looking mighty miserable, as the rest of the band played fast and a tad bit sensual. From Arizona.

Ruptures - D e a d b l o o m

Ruptures are from Southeren California and they played my backyard. While their output has been good, this EP saw them take away a lot of their melodic edge, and while the music is still groovy it has a sneakier chaotic edge to it. I dig this EP more than their earlier stuff because of that chaotic feel it entails. It could be a product that comes from their evolution of being a four piece to now a three piece. The band went from melodic post-hardcore to a little more rawer of a sound, dipping into almost indie dance music at times (The Red Light Sting comes to mind), and it works. Catch the band live, very fun.

chinesedream. - Winter Demo 2011

This band has more Reversal of Man and Palatka "vibes" than a shit ton of other screamo bands that have come out this year. Most of it has been trash, but diamonds are in the rough, and when patience provides gifts we get them in the form of bands like chinesedream. Get it before internet scum such as RealScreamo hops on this and leaves an "omg good skramz <3" post on their last.fm page. I cannot wait for a physical copy of this.

Luke Skawalker - Last Tape

Luke Skawalker (I think that's their name) has a very important message that I can get behind: Ska is stupid. Yes, it fucking sucks. Bomb the Music Industry, Sublime, No Doubt, your local ska band; it's awful. Perhaps I am a bad person for liking this, perhaps you're a doofus. Regardless of that, Luke Skawalker sounds like your radical 90's extreme screamo (otherwise known as extremo, jk, emo violence) band. It's very emo summery, very in/humanity-y, and similar to other bands in that vein. Songs about sadness, madness and killing yourself, with a slight uneducated/retarded charm, i guess, but that's not really me ridiculing them as people, just that this music is ridiculous.

Hi

http://sonofoneiros.blogspot.com/

This is MY other blog, Mappy probably doesn't know about it, but he doesn't really like the 'other' type of music I listen to. Regardless of that, maybe you do? Or you don't. Lots of bad indie rock crap. It's easier to keep it updated with an endless amounts of mb's because for every 1 screamo band there are 103984309840938439 indie rock bands.

Sig Transit Gloria - Sig Transit Gloria

Very non-influential and ultra-awesome emo/power pop band. You know the type, moog synthesizers, radical choruses. Everything I want to hear when I feel like killing myself. Much RESPEKT. Brand New jokes will come, but this stuff is awesome.

The End Of Six Thousand Years - Demo 2011

The End Of Six Thousand Years is a really tight metalcore band from Ravenna, Italy. They take a lot of cues from Embrace The End (they even did a split together), they're highly influenced by '90s melodic death metal. However, whereas Embrace The End went more on the technical "mathcore" route for their full length following the split (Ley Lines), TEOSTY basically cut out their metalcore influence on their album (Isolation), and turned into a straight forward melodic death metal band with some ambient guitar build ups here and there. This demo sees them following that ambient route, with more sludgy parts and a lot more crust influence.

This is a poor quality web-rip and I just put their name on a picture from their facebook page, but trust me, this shit is GOOD.

Masakari is pretty elite too, and their bassist has a sweet fucking beard.

Iselia - Life From Dead Limbs

Okay, so Adaptations came out and I was like, "damn bro this is pretty damn chill," and it was, but then I realized it wasn't that damn chill, espesh 'cause it's only three songs, which grates on you son. Plus the three songs are all really similar. Life From Dead Limbs is slightly less repetative, and it's long enough that the songs don't all muddle together.

If you haven't heard the band before, they're a mellowed out spacey skram-ish band. Not the best ever, but it's definitely a nice listen when you're just chilling outside and staring at trees (I have a very eventful life).

Download.
Thanks Perception Through Dissonance for the dl link.

P.S. the album art is elite.

You'll Live - Things Would Change If You Heard This

Personally I can do without the kind of twinkly stuff (it's not really twinkly at all), I really that shit, I wish it was a little more like jumping into a blender, guitar wise. But this is pretty good. At most I feel like I am listening to Boys Night Out but without the parts where the singer screams about killing himself or someone else because they are pretty, mainly just the neat parts, well the parts I like. I doubt that anyone else will hear Boys Night Out and you're probably in the right if you aren't. Anywho, maybe it's like a calmer iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook + {{ache:emelie}} or maybe it's really like Boys Night Out but without the parts where the singer screams about killing himself or someone else because they are pretty.... This band is like a more cleaned up version of screamo than I think a lot of you are used to, but who knows? Algernon Cadwallader (not screamo) is fucking popular so why can't this be too? Their bigcartel page has neat stuff.

Alexander Korda - Vous Avez Encore Des Secrets Á Dire

Very shouty, nearly screechy screamy jeebies. You know what I mean? I feel that there is a band like this at least once a year but no one ever pays real attention to them for some reason. Do you guys honestly not like this chaotic, but kind of pretty sounding stuff? It's in yo face, but not. I feel like these guys have social anxiety disorders and used to write dark poetry in high school, I know that 87% of you can relate to that and the rest of you were just nerds/jocks that are barely finding out how to use the internet and accidentally stumbled upon this page. Peace out.

Hero Of A Hundred Fights - The Remote, The Cold EP

Hero of A Hundred Fights is probably one of my more favorite hardcore tinged bands that I have ever heard in my entire life. EVER. I used to do meth in my grandmas bathroom while listening to this on a cdr a few years ago. I used to do a lot of things while listening to this. It's like that one band TOOL got really good instead of just stayed their same shitty selves. R.I.P. Forge Again Records reissued this EP on a one-sided vinyl thing that looks very fresh (a link on their bandcamp page directs you to the great purchase page). Also, best artwork.

Ravachol - Great Moments In The Void EP

I was like going to say something along the lines of, "well like, I guess I could say something that goes like, 'well hey maybe they sorta sound like Petethepiratesquid,' but I didn't because that would be a lie," and I didn't say that because THAT wouldn't be a lie. I guess. I don't know, the only similarity between this band and petey is their girl shouter/singer/human and the thin association of being hardcore of the cloth that brought so many DIY bands to fruition in the past decade or so. They are pretty good though, at least in my opinion and you can cop their mp3's at the very amazing cost of free.99 or you can be a doll and donate some proper dough. Their bandcamp page also has a really neato link to their bigcartel where you can buy a 3"cd that'll go great with that cassette that'll go great with that t-shirt.

Infected Womb - Hail Sagan

I don't know anything about this band, I don't like looking for information about bands nowadays, I just like to have this whole creative thing a mystery now. I just want to include another wall between me as a listener and the artist as the creator. I just wish I could crush my head in without making a mess. Infected Womb are pretty killer, crusty, grindy stuff... the guitars/bass and sometimes drums remind me of Systral but without the cookie monster vocals. More shouty, in your face, and kind of smelling of anxiety. I don't know. I just can't know.

Demeanor - The Slugs Throne (2010 omg late 2 da party)

Demeanor is a two piece from Kentucky, consisting of a vocalist/guitarist and a drummer. An extremely talented two piece that sounds like a complete band. Their sound is thick and layered; heavy as that guy who died fused to his couch in Ohio.

Everywhere I've looked Demeanor has been referred to as a "harcore/grind based act"... in other words, they're a gray area band. This release is 12.6 minutes of mind-raping post blackened sludge-grind, with a misanthropic atmosphere to give Kierkegaard a run for his money. That sounds dumb as hell, I know, and it was kind of the point. Trying to describe Demeanor as hardcore or grind is just silly, it's far too out there, but it's brilliantly cohesive and distinct in feel. One moment you've got an epic "post black metal" sounding riff, and the next moment the song's three times faster and dissonant as all hell, the prime example of this being the ending of the first track A Stable Life, A Bright Future.

Various Artists - The Machines (1990 - 1993)

I'm really lazy and slow when it comes to wanting to upload something for other people to hear, more or less I have given up on blogging because I figure everyone else does it and does it better than me! I should have just given up on this a long time ago and let Mappy deal with it. Anyways, enough of the shit I just posted, you probably didn't even realize that there are two dudes using this blog anyways. Onto the post:

This is such a good fucking documentation of independent music in the early 90's, lots of East Coast in this. Simple Machines did a 6 EP thing documenting stuff they felt was not going to be welcomed on other labels. The end result were some of the best EP's ever put out, the end result of that was this really amazing compilation. A little bit of Emo, a lot of indie, anthems, Jenny Toomey. Here's the tracklist:

For more info you can scope it out on the Simple Machines site.

Various Artists - The Machines (1990 - 1993)

Salt The Wound - Kill The Crown

Salt The Wound has always been a band that was slightly ahead of the ("deathcore") pack, but a bit too cliche to listen to regularly. Then Ares came out, and they really showed their ability, except Kevin (vox) started doing this really bad attempt at brocore vocals, where his voice just fucking cracked embarrassingly every .5 seconds. Anyway, this album is like Ares, but with heavy Darkest Hour influence, no brocals, and minimal brees. Very catchy, you're moshin.

Stole this link from Noisecorporation (didn't want to reupload it, what's the point...). The Drago Miette contained members of Usurp Synapse, that might be enough to entice you to walk this starch dark realm of misery and anger. Really essential hardcore, slam your head on your keyboard.

Also if you can't help by donating then spread the message, if you don't want to help then don't. I realize that a lot of us have a lot of shit to worry about so it's no problem.

Be safe world.

Tentacles - isolation is a gift

A really great band from Texas, and yes you thought Texas emo was dead (or not! For Want Of), well it's not! Tentacles is pretty dark, really loud sometimes, has dark buildups. Feels like your suffocating and enjoying the ghastly images that are clotting your brain. Aside from sounding like how a funeral makes you feel, Tentacles is... Well not a lot more than just what they are, a dark emo band, Usurp Synapse, The Drago Miette, etc etc. You can freely download their songs one by one off their bandcamp page or go to one of their shows and get a freebie cdr.

Håp - Demo 2011

Screamy hardcore band from Stavanger, Norway. A little more in the modern screamo category, shouty with neat guitars. Kind of reminds me of La Quiete. This short little four song demo will rest well in your computers harddrive for a quick listen from time to time. Also for those of you not in the know (which did include me, until there was some help on the cmhwak forums) it's pronounced haup. :)

Quartier Rouge - Les Années Lumières

Again another band on the Throatruiner Records roster. This time it's very dark sludgy metal...? Really in the vein of Daughters' last two albums but with a more mysterious edge to it. It could be that I don't understand what the singer is howling about, but more or less I dig it and I figure a few of you would too. You can download this on their bandcamp page and buy it on bigcartel (on sale/euros).

The Phantom Carriage - New Thing

Well I haven't been on here in a while, mainly because I've been busy with school and there has been nothing that has interested me enough to post it on here. There's a few things though.

Anyways, I was lurking the CMHWAK forums and ran across a few bands that I dug. First off here's The Phantom Carriage. They have been described as a mix of Emo (of the chaotic vein) and black metal. The marriage of the two works pretty good, I mean I'm not the biggest black metal aficionado and don't want to be but if what people are saying is true then this band mixes the sounds really well. A little relentless and often times very angry and throaty. Not screechy. You can get New Thing on bandcamp, or purchase the preorder on throatruiner records' bigcartel page.

The Planning Fallacy - Tides EP (repost)

Twice the album art cause the pic is so small.

Anyway, rapidshare deleted this, so mediafire woo. The quality is shitty (128) but whatever, it's all I could find. These guys were awesome... one of those bands that I listened to repeatedly in for hours in high school, one of the bands that made me start singing. I've been listening to it on repeat again lately, since I found it.

Very spacy "post hardcore" with really great singing and weak but enjoyable screams. The instrumental aspects of this band are about as chill as Jonny Craig on DBM2.

Aside from how strange and disjointed this album is, it's really fucking good. It's a very interesting mix of black metal, screamo, crust, and hardcore. Overall I'd say it has a feel somewhat similar to newer I Pilot Daemon, but more "blackened". Very depressive.

Robot's Don't Cry - Tour 2004 CDr

The only thing I know about Robot's Don't Cry is that there are two of them, this one is top skramz straight from Omaha (where a recent school shooting took place, very angry location). The first track on this has a few little scratches, but since the song is nearly 10 minutes then you won't be able to tell. Recording is very sub par, but so is nearly most recordings for this type of music in 2004. Taking cues from the Kanaris train of though, meaning that this shit is constructed to sound long, brooding, motherfucking bad ass and generally kick ass as well. You feel me? Does I Would Set Myself On Fire For You sound like this? Probably, I've never heard. Unbelievably bad song titles and nice quiet parts. EAT THIS.

Really Good Parents - ...Kissing Girls Is Cool I Guess...

Back to bring you the latest (like 2005 or so, actually... maybe?) in the skramz and the mother fucking jamz. Really Good Parents was a band that outta nowhere made some really intricate songs, great guitar work that was typical for the genre. Reminds me of a more melodic and brooding Dispensing of False Halos, vocal wise. Song names make it seem like they were taking cues from Emo Summer (overlords). Is it all a joke? I think it's serious as hell, disguised with pretty guitar work and jumpy drum playing. The bass hasn't much to offer, but I'm only saying that because I don't really listen to the bass when I try to listen to screamo (unless it's Usurp Synapse). Anywho, if anyone has a higher bitrate (aka 192 and up) then let me know, I would like to listen because I assume that higher quality would help these songs break the fourth wall (so close).
