Joan of Arc - Boo! Human

I ain't one to lie... scratch that shit, I'm a fucking a liar, a huge fucking fatty pants asshole liar. I mean all I do is lie and I feel so damn good about it. But what I ain't lying about is the tantalizingness of Joan of Arks new album "Boo! Human." Just in case you didn't know, Joan of Arc is Tim Kinsella's new band and usually every album is more quirky and zanier than the last. You can call the band "Tim Kinsella and Friends Present: (Insert something like The Fucking Board You Shoulda Ate But Didn't Cuz It Basically Got Away)" and I wouldn't blame you. This album alone has 14 guest musicians. I think this one features his brother as drummer after a few that didn't so that's a good sign considering BOTH are from Cap N Jazz fame (A band that made a distinct mark in that midwest emo scene, the band that the Kossabone Red nearly became and the band that Algernon Cadwallader is basically becoming). I really like this album, there are no hit and misses for me here unlike the other albums and do not let the track titles fool you "9/11 two" is an enjoyable song and so is "A Tell-Tale Penis"... On Polyvinyl Records.

Nerce City - Catholic School

I have no idea what Nerve City is all about except that they are a fairly recent project and have a few tapes released on Coriander Tapes, Severed Hand and Sweet Rot. This collection is unreleased/OOP. Just grab it, it's almost as though you are listening to a reading about a Ghost town full of bodies that have not yet realized they have all been killed. DOGS is the song, it's just the song...

Index For Potential Suicide - Sex Violence Whatever...

Well Index For Potential Suicide are a band that has successfully mixed in elements and noise to create a sound that's a lot more cliche nowadays than it was way back in the 1990's. Formed in 1998 by four dudes with a fascination for Noise and experimental music who go by the names: Christopher Ashley, Brian Cooper, Robert Findlater and Frank Whiteside; who, after the band disbanded, formed The Diseased and The Avenging Disco Godfathers of Soul. They are an honest example of experimentation in the hardcore scene and are akin to Usurp Synapse, Jeromes Dream, early Teen Cthulhu and Orchids more experimental sounding songs. As far as I know, "The Newest Youth Rebellion" LP is still available for purchase from the Berlin, Germany based label Insolito; and the Discography "Sex Violence Whatever" is more than likely still available on ALONE records. The record is a good listen if you feel like killing everything you know you can kill and if not that then to at least have a better understanding of the time period they represent. Other bands HAVE done it better, but none of them have done it like Index For Potential Suicide. Be ready to punch your girlfriend in the head.

Nicole 12

Nicole 12 is noise, but not noise like Mossana or those other dumb Japanoise artists; nor noise-rock like Sonic Youth. Nicole 12 is the brainchild of Miko Asspa; if you are already familiar with harsh noise electronics then this could just be the next step is what you need to hear but if not then please be weary. The power of "Substitute" is summed up by a warning that is included in the packaging for the length :
"Due to the Unusual nature of this release it could be expected that some persons feel uncomfortable when hearing or reading the material. That’s why they invented the Stop button to your CD player and possibility to re-sell/throw away records"
You'll be glad to know that the "Braces" 7" is not as harsh as the complete album so you might want to start off with that one.

Any who, the content is considerably fucked up and after two tracks or so you get naseous or at least a little bit creeped by the remarkable commentary being said while there are glitches and pounds of static flowing through your speakers. All in all it is truly a spectacle that can only be listened to loud and as obnoxious as possible.

But seriously, fucked up shit.
